Moldy Humidifiers - A Possible Connection to SIDS

This is a terrifying prospect to even think of for any parent, but after having done some research lately, I've discovered a vital reason to ensure that your home doesn't have toxic black mold, or other types of mold infestations.

Do a search on Google or any other reputable search engine for more in-depth information, but here are some interesting points about mold and the connection to SIDS that parents will definitely want to know about:

• A moldy air humidifier has, in some instances, been linked to SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome.) Although humidifiers are often recommended by pediatricians - especially in cold, dry winters - they can cause more mold to grow, since mold grows when it has moist conditions to thrive in AND when it has food. (The most common type of 'food' for mold is common household dust.) If you're currently using a humidifer for your baby, check with your pediatrician for recommendations on which brand or type is safest. Also - using these occasionally, instead of excessively, can do much to reduce the problem. Properly caring for and maintaining the appliance is also of utmost importance to the safety of your baby.

And, check with the manufacturer of an indoor air humidifier on how to keep it working well, and maintained so as to protect your entire family from health problems related to mold.

Mold Removal - Ozone Machines to Kill Mold Spores

I've just discovered another way to kill mold spores - and that is by using an ozone machine. Remember, that ozone machines should be used in VERY well ventilated areas, and that the ozone should never be breathed in - everyone in the house should leave while the ozone machine is being used. (Also called ozone generators)

This is another option for you to battle against mold in your home! Again, if the mold problem is extreme, it is always best to contact a mold specialist in your area to handle the problem for you, and really get rid of all of the dangerous mold in your home.
