Mold Removal - 22 Signs that You May Have a Mold Problem in Your Home

  • High levels of humidity - higher levels of humidity provides an environment that allows mold spores to thrive and grow. If you live in an area of higher humidity, the likelihood is far greater that your home will have mold.
  • Musty or mildew odors and scents - This is one of the most obvious ways that you can 'smell out' a mold problem before it even becomes visible to the naked eye...that giveaway musty or mildewy scent that is unmistakable!
  • Allergic reactions - These allergic reactions can include watery, itchy eyes, sneezing, coughing and other types of respiratory reactions. For me, I can often tell that it's mold because it seems to be the only thing I'm ever allergic to!
  • Peeling paint and other wall signs - Your walls can give hints as to mold. Peeling or cracking paint or other weird signs (such as bulging) in the walls can mean that there's mold, or a build up of moisture in the walls...which of course leads to mold.

Finally - the best way to find out definitively that you have a mold problem, is to conduct a mold test. A variety of mold tests are available online or at local hardware and home building stores.
